Professor of Law
Professor Lyons joins the faculty of OCU Law from Notre Dame Law School where he held an appointment as a visiting scholar for the 2010-11 academic year. Prior to that, he taught a variety of courses at Michigan State University College of Law, including Basic Taxation, Tax Policy, Torts, Tort Theory, and Complex Litigation.
Before entering law teaching in 2001, Professor Lyons was an associate in the San Francisco office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom. His litigation practice involved tax, securities fraud, mass torts, products liability, insurance coverage, and communications law. His time in practice was preceded by a clerkship with Judge Edward Leavy of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
In addition to his Juris Doctorate, Professor Lyons holds a M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy. Much of his scholarship has focused on interdisciplinary issues in law and philosophy.
