About Ed McLuskie

Dr. Ed McLuskie has a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, and has been a member of the faculty of the Department of Communication at Boise State University since 1981. He is an internationally recognized philosopher of communication and critical theorist, teaching also at universities in Europe and Eurasia. Dr. McLuskie was twice named Fulbright Professor, in 1997 at the Institut für Publizistik- und Kommunikationswissenschaft, University of Vienna, Austria, and in 2005 at Tbilisi State University & the Georgia Institute for Public Affairs, Republic of Georgia. During the 2012-13 academic year, he was a guest professor at two European universities: the University of Augsburg, Germany, and the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Dr. McLuskie was also re-appointed as a guest professor at the University of Augsburg, Germany during the 2015-2016 academic year.
Dr. McLuskie's teaching and research interests and specialties include critical theory, social philosophy of communication, communication theory, mass culture & cultural studies, and metascience & communication research. His recent and current work includes: essays on the critical communication scholars Hanno Hardt and Jürgen Habermas; chapters and articles on audience concepts and postmodern ethics; and review-of-the-field essays for scholarly yearbooks, encyclopedias, and handbooks.
