About Donald A. Robinson

Dr. Robinson has focused his career on the advancement of engineering practices applied to the field of environmental health and safety and emergency management. He spent 13 years with the General Electric company in various engineering and manufacturing capacities and his last position at GE was Manager of Occupational Safety for the Lynn River Works facility. Dr. Robinson has over three decades of experience heading the environmental health and safety program at the University of Massachusetts flagship Amherst campus. In 2014 this program included 40 staff members with programs in lab safety, biological safety, radiation safety, fire safety, environmental compliance and emergency management. He has also served on over eighteen peer review teams to evaluate EHS programs at other institutions.
Dr. Robinson holds an adjunct professor appointment in Health Sciences and has held a similar faculty appointment in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. He has taught in the area of industrial safety engineering and fire protection engineering. He has also served on doctoral committees. Dr. Robinson is past Chair of the Campus Safety, Health and Environmental Management Association. He is also past Vice President of the National Safety Council for Campus Safety and past Chair of the Safety Council of Western New England.
Dr. Robinson is a graduate of the GE Corporate Manufacturing Management Program and the GE Pittsfield Engineering Apprentice Program. He is a Registered Professional Engineering [Mechanical] in the state of Massachusetts and a Board Certified Safety Professional.
