Dominic Dousa, Assistant Professor of Music, has been a faculty member at the University of Texas at El Paso Department of Music since August of 2004. At UTEP he teaches courses in 2nd-year theory and aural skills, upper-level and graduate theory courses, and all level of composition. Dr. Dousa's compositions have received successful performances at conferences and concerts in the U.S. and abroad. Recent highlights include the premiere of his piano quintet "Evocations from the Plains" by the Biava String Quartet and pianist Doris Stevenson, a work commissioned for the 2009 El Paso Pro Musica Chamber Music Fesitval and performances of his "Two Pieces for Flute and Piano" with flutist Melissa Colgin-Abeln at the American Ambassador's Residence in Paris and at the American Church in Paris for the Atelier Concert Series in May of 2008. In the summer of 2009, the Aries trio will perform his piece "'Til We Meet Again", a work for violin, trumpet, and piano that they commissioned for performances at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and the China International Trumpet Week in Beijing. Dousa has remained active as an accompanist and chamber musician, performing in numerous recitals at various universities and concert venues with faculty, guest artists, and students.
