About Domenick Pinto

Professor Pinto began his teaching career with Sacred Heart University in 1976. He is a member of ACM, SIGCSE, the University Academic  Assembly and the Arts and Science College Council. He was chairperson of the Computer Science Department from 1987 to 2016 and was the Director of the School of Computer Science and Engineering from 2016 to 2018. He is also currently the director of both the MSCSIT and the MSCYB graduate programs.

Professor Pinto's teaching focus is Programming (C++, Visual Basic.net, Data Structures, Algorithms, C, Multimedia, and Logic). His research includes Academic Leadership and Information Technology in Education and Multimedia.
Professor Pinto has presented workshops and papers at various national and international conferences including the Academic Chairperson’s Conference, Leadership in Higher Education Conference, ACM, SIGCSE, Conference on Teaching and Learning, and Educause. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Sears Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1990 and the Excellence in Teaching Award from SHU in 2012 as well as the Joe Grau Service Award in 1998 from Sacred Heart University, and an Excellence in Teaching Award in 1997 and 1999 at the Conference on Teaching and Learning in Jacksonville, Florida. He is a member of ACM, SIGCSE, and has served as UAA president at SHU twice. He recently was voted onto the Advisory Board for the Academic Chairperson’s Conference held annually.
