Diane Brown, assistant professor, has a PhD from Harvard University (Romance
Languages and Literatures, 2001) with a specialization in eighteenth-century French
literature. She is working on a book manuscript entitled "Private Lessons: Mentors
and the Anxiety of Education in Eighteenth-Century French Literature." Her research
interests include the intersections of culture and literature, the material history of
books, Enlightenment philosophy, and literary theory.
