About Demetri L. Morgan, Ph.D.

I am an Associate Professor of Higher Education at the Loyola University Chicago School of Education. My research explores the purpose and responsibilities of higher education in a diverse democracy. I seek to understand how colleges and universities create campus climates that build students' cultural competencies to foster lifelong civic and political engagement. Furthermore, I utilize organizational theories to help design and evaluate educational approaches that foster success in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Finally, I explore academic governance and institutional policy issues concerning boards of trustees and their influence on the outcomes and success of students, faculty, and staff.
