Dr. David E. Wilkins joined the faculty of the Department of Geosciences at Boise State University in 2000. After earning a B.S. and M.Ag. in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University, he went on to earn another master's degree in Geography at Texas A&M and then a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Utah. His dissertation title was "Studies of Basin Response to Abrupt Climate Change: the Trans-Pecos Closed Basin, West Texas and South-Central New Mexico", and his current research interests still include climate change, as well as geomorphology of arid lands, dendrogeomorphology, dendrochronology, and fire history. Dr. Wilkins maintains memberships in the Association of American Geographers, American Quaternary Association, American Geophysical Union, Geological Society of America, National Association of Geoscience Teachers, National Association of Science Teachers, and the Tree-Ring Society. In addition, he served as the state coordinator of the Idaho Geography Bee from 2004-2012; reviews manuscripts for Geomorphology, Quaternary Research, Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, and Quaternary Science Research; and reviews proposals for the Petroleum Research Fund and the National Science Foundation.
