About David Cooke
Dr David Cooke completed a study of Australian companies and their disposition toward social investment. His dissertation entitled "the philanthropic contract: building social capital through corporate social investment" was completed in 2008.The study deals with the field of corporate social responsibility and specifically focuses on the benefits for companies engaging in corporate social investment resulting in the building of social capital.Through in-depth interviews and case studies advice emerges for not-for-profit organisations that in order to maximise fund raising from the corporate sector a business case needs to be developed around the needs of the corporation, or potential partner, that focuses on their potential return on investment, rather than simply an appeal to altruism. This redefines the for-purpose and for-profit enagement and relationship.
