About David Swenson

I am a community economics research and education specialist.My work focuses on community and statewide economic analysis, direct technical assistance, and affiliated projects that support the College of Agriculture and Life Science's efforts in community development, applied economic research and the causes and consequences of change, and in providing economics education services to the public. I study a wide range of Iowa-specific topics to include definitive work on the economic contribution of biofuels production to Iowa’s economy, the regional economic consequences of advanced biofuels production, local foods assessments, industrial and occupational change, and the demographic and economic consequences of rural transformation in Iowa and the Midwest.
