Abstract

Steve Jobs predicted that HTML5 would replace Adobe Flash. In November 2011, Adobe announced it would cease developing its Flash Player plug-in for mobile browsers and encourage developers to adopt the HTML5 standard. This work discusses some of the features of HTML5 and suggests that as search engine optimization (SEO) and usability on mobile devices become increasingly important, law librarians should consider how HTML5 features may prove useful in achieving the goals of the law library. Further, the article discusses how HTML5 may also influence the development of legal digital publishing initiatives.
