Symphony No. 2 was composed for the Centennial Celebration of Sand Lake Refuge, a 22 thousand acre wildlife refuge in South Dakota. The work has four movements, each represent a different region:
- 1) Jubilant Refuge
- 2) Morning &Migration on the James River
- 3) Hymn of the Prairie
- 4) The Plains of Aberdeen
