My personal research interests are on evaluating the extent and nature of the
underground economy (or what is often termed the informal, cash-in-hand, hidden, shadow
or undeclared economy) and examining policy approaches for tackling this sphere. Recent
clients include the European Commission, European Foundation for the Improvement of
Living and Working Conditions and numerous departments of national governments.
