Chris Durman is the Music Librarian for Public Services and an Assistant Professor
at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is a graduate of the University of
Tennessee School of Information Science and, beginning in the mid-1980s, has
“moonlighted” as a semi-professional folk and rock musician. Chris’s current position has
enabled him to bring his work and hobbies together and to further his research into the
roots of current American popular and folk music, the musical traditions of East
Tennessee, and techniques and controversies involved with the digital delivery of music.
