About Charles Giangarra

Charles "Chuck" Giangarra, MD is Professor, Vice Chairman, and Chief, Marshall Athletics and Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the Joan C Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University. He is a Team Physician for Marshall Athletics. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York, downstate College of Medicine before graduating his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Montefiore Medical Center. He completed advanced training in Sports Medicine at his fellowship at the renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. Dr. Giangarra is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and holds a certificate of added qualification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in Sports Medicine. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, and member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, and Olympic Team Physician Society. He has served as an orthopedic consultant and team physician to Stanford University, The San Francisco Giants, New Orleans Saints summer camps and the United States Olympic team. He has been practicing at Marshall Orthopaedics since 2004, and specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of musculo-skeletal injuries in the active, health conscious population from pediatric to geriatric. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. He has three children and lives in Huntington, with his wife and youngest daughter.
