Franklin is current conductor of the Macalester Wind Ensemble and the Macalester
Symphonic Band. He is a graduate of Macalester College and received his Master of Music
degree in Conducting from the University of Minnesota. He also studied at the Aspen Music
School. 

Franklin is a conductor of broad experience having worked extensively in the fields of
orchestral music and opera. He is currently the Music Director and Conductor of the Civic
Orchestra of Minneapolis and has guest conducted the Minnesota Orchestra, St. Louis
Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, and for the Washington Opera. He is also the former
Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor of the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. He is also a
nationally recognized composer with commissions and performances from the Minnesota
Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Cedar Rapids Symphony, Nashville Symphony, Opera Theatre
of Saint Louis, Washington Opera, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, VocalEssence, Chanticleer
and the Dale Warland Singers.
