Abstract
Review of a book that is a qualitative, interview-based study of 16 young adults in the Churches of Christ, an evangelical denomination. Myers reports what the young people think on the topics of religion, identity, and education. She finds that they are taught, in many ways, that deviation from church norms carries runs the risk of their social exclusion. She concludes the book with a helpful contrast between evangelical survival narratives and the "true survival narratives" of the participants.
