Agricultural Insurance in Bangladesh; And Comparative Analysis of Various Countries
Abstract
Agricultural insurance, mainly the crop insurance and livestock insurance, is looking to be reintroducing in Bangladesh. First it was introduced in 1977 by Sadharan Bima Corporation (SBC), but it was closed down because of inadequate planning and lack of government intervention. As the part of the paper my main focus is to give potentials and problems in implementation of crop insurance and livestock insurance in Bangladesh. And give a comparative analysis of agricultural insurance of various countries. In this report we discussed these in the following chapter: Chapter 1: in chapter 1 I discussed our scope of study and objective of study and problems faced to prepare the report. Chapter 2: in chapter 2 I tried to give a general introduction and background about the crop and livestock insurance in the country. Find out the reason of early collapse of agricultural insurance that was started in 1977. Also try to find out the potentials, befits and problems of implementation of such insurance in the country. And make a suggestion for implementation. Chapter 3: in chapter 3 I tried to give a comparative analysis of agricultural insurance, mainly crop insurance and livestock insurance, of India, China, USA, Australia, UK, Spain, Italy, Greece, Canada and Ireland. And also tried to give a finding on that. In the conclusion part I give my opinion based on the overall discussion and the letter I give the name of the articles, report, and journals I take help to complete the report.
