Arijit Bose
Arijit Bose is Distinguished Professor of Engineering,Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering at University of Rhode Island (URI) and co-Director of the Rhode Island Consortium for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. He served as Chair of Chemical Engineering at URI from 2004-2009. He has a B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. He joined URI in 1982, after 2 years at Dupont, where he worked in their textile fibers department. He has been a Visiting Scientist at MIT (1989 and 1995-96) a Visiting Senior Scientist at Cabot Corporation (2002-2004), and a Visiting Research Fellow at Cabot Corporation (2009-2011). Professor Bose’s current research encompasses colloidal and interfacial engineering, with specific efforts in the areas of nanoparticle/nanostructured materials synthesis and characterization, advanced uses for cryogenic transmission electron microscopy, soft colloid aggregate microstructure evolution and self-assembly dynamics and thermodynamics using both traditional probing techniques as well as microfluidics, and the development of novel self-healing materials. Prof. Bose has 85 journal publications and holds 5 US patents. He has been presented thrice with the URI College of Engineering’s Vincent and Estelle Murphy Award for outstanding research. He received URIs Outstanding Intellectual Property Award in 2008 and URI Outstanding Research Award in 2011. He was an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions in Nanotechnology (2003-2008).
