Associate Professor Porter received her BComm (Hons) in Applied Psychology from the University of NSW in 1975. This was followed by a Dip Ed in Mathematics and Economics, Dip in Computing Science in 1984 and GradDip Mathematics in 1988 all from the University of Wollongong. In 1992 Associate Professor Porter registered as a Psychologist in the state of NSW. A MSc (Hons) was awarded in 1993 with a thesis titled, ‘Estimation of Aids Incidence’ and Associate Professor Porter received her PhD with a thesis titled, ‘Improving Statistical Education through the experience of Reflective Practice’ in 2001, both from UOW.
