Dr. Pande has significant experience in collection and analysis of traffic data
relevant to measurement of safety. His research interests also include driver behavior,
traffic simulation, emergency evacuation, and scholarship of teaching. He received the
“Young Researcher Award” by the Transportation Research Board’s Committee on Safety Data,
Analysis, and Evaluation in 2007. He has co-authored close to 30 manuscripts that have
been either published or are forthcoming in peer reviewed journals such as AAP, TRR, and
IEEE transactions on ITS. He has worked on several sponsored projects including a study
on driver behavior funded by the National Science Foundation. He was also one of the
invited speakers on “Changes in Traffic Safety Policies and Regulations in 7 Countries
(1950-2010)” at 2012 International Workshop by IATSS (International Association of
Traffic and Safety Sciences) in Tokyo.
