BA (Hons) (Griffith University) PhD (Griffith University) PIBBI (Diploma) (Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana) Before embarking on an academic career, Anne was the Managing Director of a chain of highly successful small businesses in Queensland and New South Wales. This experience encouraged a personal interest in the Asian region and recognition of the importance of Australia's near neighbours for business, political and cultural growth. Anne spent several years living in Indonesia establishing close contacts in the Jakarta business, political, and academic communities. In 2002 Anne led a World Bank funded project to retrain mid-career Diplomats from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Hanoi, Vietnam. She has maintained close contact with business and political elite in Vietnam and consulted with many businesses seeking opportunities and in operation there. The business and political relationships in Vietnam now have a large influence in Anne's research interests.
