A native of Peru, Alfredo Bullard González's own backyard research resembles
that of his compatriot, Hernando de Soto. His treatise on the economic analysis of civil
law is widely considered by many as the best book on the subject. He earned a law degree
with honours from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He was also a Fulbright
Scholar at Yale University, where he obtained a master's degree in law. He teaches
civil law and economic analysis of law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú
and visits regularly at the Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In
the United States, he is on the law faculty of the Alben W. Barkley School of Law. A
former head of Indecopi, Peru's competition authority, he was recently named one of
the region's foremost arbitrators and mediators by the annual publication The Latin
Lawyer, published by Chambers Global.
