Alexandra Cuffel's research and teaching focus on relations between Jews,
Christians and Muslims during the Middle Ages, specifically on the intersections of
religious polemic, medical theories and gender both in Western Europe and the Middle
East. She is currently working on a new monograph project, Shared Saints and Festivals
among Jews, Christians and Muslims in the Mediterranean 1100-1650, for which she received
a research fellowship in Women’s Studies in Religion at Harvard Divinity School and a
fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies.
