Abstract
In most professions today, there is an inherent need for continuous research in order to progress practices and raise the bar in performance. This need is particularly important for sustainable design and high-performance buildings. There are many reasons why design firms must continuously invest in research and knowledge acquisition, with three main impetuses framing our understanding at Perkins+Will: innovation and knowledge leadership, improvement in processes and services, and advancement in building performance.
