Review of the Minerals Council of Australia's National Education Program

Adrian Beavis

Abstract

The Mineral Council of Australia's National Education Program (NEP) is the minerals industry's seed program to achieve a highly skilled workforce. One of the key objectives of the NEP is to expose young people to those aspects of the world of work that relate to the mining industry, and to encourage them to consider careers in the mining industry. ACER was commissioned to review the National Educational Program (NEP) of the MCA to advise on a cost-effective school education strategy for the minerals industry post-2005. A series of 27 recommendations was made after extensive consultation with a wide range of stakeholders.
