Dr Abbas Valadkhani was born in Tehran. He received his BEc in Economics at The
University of Allameh Tabatabaee (Tehran), his MEc from The University of Tehran and his
PhD in Economics at The University of Queensland. Currently, Dr Valadkhani is an
A/professor of Economics at The University of Wollongong. Previously, he was head of the
Macroeconometric Modelling Group of the Management and Planning Organisation of Iran. He
has also been a Lecturer of Econometrics at the Department of Statistics at The National
University of Iran a Lecturer of Economics at the Queensland University of Technology and
The University of Newcastle. Dr Valadkhani was also one of the Vice-Presidents of the
Economic Society of Australia (ESA) Inc, Queensland Branch in 2003-2004. He is a member
the editorial board of Briefing Notes in Economics; Australasian Journal of Economics
Education; Applied Econometrics and International Development; and Global Business &
Economics Review. He has over 50 publications in leading scientific journals in the areas
of applied econometrics, macroeconometric model building, international financial and
monetary economics, development economics, and input-output analysis. Research Interests
include applied econometrics, macroeconometric model-building, international financial
and monetary economics, development economics, and input-output analysis. My current
research interests include productivity and growth, Australian macroeconomic policy
issues, the pre- and post-GST effects on inflation, and multi-dimensional ranking of
Australian universities.
